The mission of East Boldre Baptist Church is to share the good news about Jesus with people who live in the New Forest, especially in East Boldre and the surrounding villages.
Our vision is to glorify God by building a church that grows, not simply in terms of numbers, but in terms of depth of relationship with God and with one another.
Everyone is welcome to join us in working toward this goal.
OUR VALUES – We want to be:
God Centred – God glorifying, Bible based
The reason all people were created was to glorify God, in other words to draw attention to His greatness (Isaiah 43:6-8). We believe that the word of God (the Bible) is central in helping us to see his glory and understand how we can fulfil his calling to glorify him (Psalm 119:104-106). As a consequence, we aim to build our lives corporately and individually on the truth of His written word.
We will regularly listen to his word being preached and worship Him as the truth of scripture is implanted in our hearts. We will also take communion together at least once a month in order to remember the sacrifice of Jesus for us all.
Enabled by the Holy Spirit, we will also aim to make study, meditation on, memorisation of, and application of Scripture a daily focus of our lives (Joshua 1:8).
God Satisfied – Rejoicing in Jesus
Humans are also intended to enjoy God forever (Psalm 16:11). We find our joy in glorifying God and holding Jesus to be our greatest treasure in every circumstance of our lives. God is most glorified when His people find their satisfaction and joy in him. We want to reject cold and dull ‘religion’.
We will praise God in every worship service and seek God’s grace to prepare ourselves to worship him corporately on a Sunday morning (Psalm 100). That being said we recognise, as a grace-dependent community, that God meets us where we are at because of his love and grace, and never on the basis of our performance (Ephesians 2:8-9).
We also recognise that worship is a way of life, wholehearted devotion to Jesus. Constantly seeking to be filled with the Spirit, we will seek our joy and satisfaction in Jesus in our day to day living, supported by times of personal devotion and meeting with other believers in small groups. We will choose Jesus over anything the world has to offer. (Luke 9:23-24)
God Dependent –Trusting Jesus and developing a life of prayer
God rescues people from sin, death and hell to have a living personal and corporate relationship with him (John 17:3) only on the basis of the death of Jesus on the cross for our sin (Isaiah 53:5). We are dependent on God from beginning to end.
We will express this dependence in our prayer life, individually and corporately. Corporate prayer will be a focus for the church during three separate weeks of the year. This will combine with personal times of prayer, home group prayer meetings and joint church prayer meetings at other times.
God Sharing – Witnessing to Jesus, welcoming all
Jesus has commissioned his followers to go into all the world and make disciples, baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This commission was the reason East Boldre Baptist Church was planted over 200 years ago. Mission will continue to be at the heart of our church life (Matthew 28:18-20).
Knowing Jesus and experiencing God’s love for us is so wonderful that we want to share him with all, in word and deed. As a result we will seek to share the gospel in our day-to-day lives, weekly services and in special events. We are committed to making and growing disciples of Jesus. Baptism of believers by immersion will be encouraged. People of all backgrounds will be welcomed.
God Indwelt – Being filled with the Holy Spirit, a grace-filled community
The Holy Spirit is God’s amazing gift to all who trust Jesus as their saviour. We are saved for individual relationship with God and relationship with other believers (1Corinthians 12:12-14). None of us deserve God’s love or grace yet it is freely offered to us (Ephesians 2:8-9).
We want to be a people living in the light of the grace of God. We want to constantly seek to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). We want His empowering presence within us individually, and amongst us corporately. We will seek all the gifts that he gives for building the church. We will pray for renewal and revival. We will treat one another and anyone who comes to the church on the basis of God’s love and grace, which he has freely given to us.
